Zhanang county in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region has been building the region's first desert park since March, according to the county's tourism development commission.
The park's entrance gate and exhibition center have been completed, while construction of the basic corridor bridge started recently.
The park lies more than 120 kilometers from the regional capital, Lhasa, and it takes about two hours driving to get there.
The park will include an ecological conservation zone, a science and education zone, a museum of desert-related science and technology, and a yard of desert plants, in addition to some areas for recreation and photography.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by July, after which the construction of the second phase will be started, the commission said.
