The Tibet Autonomous Region People's Hospital （西藏自治区人民医院）, a comprehensive 3A hospital, is located on the east side of the renowned Potala Palace in Lhasa.

By 2012, the hospitalhad occupied a total area of 160,000 square meters. As a center integrating medical care, emergency, health care, teaching and scientific research, the hospital possesses 13 functional departments, 29 clinical and technical departments, and 3 county level institutions - the Tibet Emergency Center, the Tibet Autonomous Region Maternal and Child Health Institute, and the Institute for High Altitude Medicine in Tibet.

In recent years, departments including ICU, paediatrics (severe disease), alpine disease, endocrine, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, and clinical nursing in the hospital have been successively approved as the national key clinical specialty construction units, and the National Natural Science Foundation Projects for five consecutive years.
