The Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery is holding its 20th anniversary exhibition in Lhasa. The exhibition showcases 32 classic artworks, including oil paintings, installations, videos, innovative Tangkas, and digital drawings, created by 27 renowned contemporary Tibetan artists.

The Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery is the first cultural and artistic institution established and funded by local artists in Tibet autonomous region. Since its establishment in 2003, the gallery has consistently adhered to the principle of "establishing a platform and free communication space to promote contemporary Tibetan art" and focused on promoting Tibetan art rooted in the rich soil of Eastern culture.

"Today is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery. Twenty years ago, several passionate young people dedicated to Tibetan art jointly founded the Gedun Choipel Tibetan Contemporary Art Space. After more than 20 years of development, this art space has grown from zero to what it is today, allowing more people to understand the artistic concepts of Tibetan artists. Our members have grown from the initial nine to more than 30 now. They have become the backbone of the Tibetan art scene, which is the significance of establishing the Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery. At the same time, the gallery offers a platform for young Tibetan artists to communicate and exhibit, playing a role in carrying forward contemporary Tibetan art," said Gade, representative of the Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery founders and vice chairman of the Tibetan Artists Association.

Over the past 20 years, artists from the Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery have created numerous outstanding works based on Tibetan spirit and elements. With their distinct cultural style, solid painting skills, and outstanding artistic achievements, they have created a sound environment for the development and exchanges of contemporary Tibetan art and cultivated many outstanding young artists, thereby establishing a professional image and reputation for promoting Tibetan art.

The exhibition will run from Aug 20 to Sept 3. Interested art enthusiasts can go to the Gedun Choipel Contemporary Art Gallery located at No.4 Bako North Street, Chengguan district, Lhasa.
