The China (Lhasa)–Nepal Economic and Trade Promotion Conference took place in Kathmandu on April 13, hosted by the Lhasa municipal people's government.

The event gathered around 150 representatives from both countries, focusing on new energy, logistics, supply chains, and cross-border e-commerce.

Lhasa has been strengthening economic ties with Nepal, aligning with the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2024, Lhasa's total foreign trade exceeding 6.5 billion yuan ($890 million), growing by 17.8 percent. Recent trade advancements include Xizang's first overseas warehouse for Nepal-bound e-commerce and improved direct container transportation.

A key highlight of the event was cross-border e-commerce collaboration. Lhasa Zangni International Supply Chain Management Co introduced logistics optimization strategies, aiming to reduce delivery times to 15 days while cutting costs by 20 percent.

Additionally, the leading Nepalese e-commerce platform, Daraz, reached agreements with Lhasa enterprises to enhance cross-border trade, including the planned launch of a dedicated section for "Lhasa goods" on their platform.

Dilse Trading Co also had Tibetan specialty products and signed an 8-million-yuan purchase agreement with Nepal Handicrafts Association that is expected to create over 200 jobs. Ganlu Tibetan Medicine Industry Group also established plans with Nepal's Ministry of Health to expand cross-border medicinal herb trade.

The conference resulted in 12 agreements across various industries, enhancing bilateral trade and fostering deeper economic cooperation. Officials emphasized continued support for future projects, marking another step forward in China–Nepal trade relations.
