The drama Faraway The Lhasa River debuted at the Cao Yu Theater of the Beijing International Theater Center from April 18 to 20.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of of the establishment of Xizang autonomous region, this theatrical production captures the evolving times through the art of performance.
The play revolves around the lives and work of Beijing-aid officials Cheng Yanjie and Song Yile in Lhasa, narrating their experiences through an authentic and delicate storytelling approach that combines a diverse array of artistic techniques. It vividly portrays the dedication and professionalism of aid officials in Xizang, highlighting their perseverance in the face of challenges such as the clean water project and disputes over school site selection.
Looking ahead, Faraway The Lhasa River will continue to share its compelling story and heartfelt emotions in Beijing. From May 16 to 18, it will be performed three times at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, ensuring that the touching narrative reaches even more audiences.
