Xizang's foreign trade saw steady growth, with total imports and exports exceeding 3 billion yuan ($415.83 million) from January to April — a 7.7 percent year-on-year increase. In April alone, trade climbed to 693 million yuan, rising by 13.9 percent.

At Zhangmu Port in March, 150 new energy vehicles were prepared for export to Nepal via the year's first South Asia freight train. Thanks to Lhasa Customs' streamlined clearance system, the process from declaration to release was completed efficiently, saving businesses both time and money.

Lhasa and Shigatse remained Xizang's trade hubs, accounting for over 99 percent of the region's total foreign trade. Nepal continued to be Xizang's primary trade partner, with bilateral trade reaching 1.31 billion yuan, an increase of 10.9 percent.

Xizang also strengthened trade ties with ASEAN, the United States, and the European Union, seeing impressive growth rates of 10.8 percent, 117.6 percent, and 79.8 percent, respectively. Trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 2.16 billion yuan, up 25.9 percent year-on-year.

To boost imports, Xizang established its first designated fruit inspection site at Keyrung Port, paving the way for Nepalese citrus fruits to enter the Chinese market. Tibetan wool and cashmere exports have thrived, benefiting from enhanced customs policies.

With new trade-supportive measures in place, Xizang is rapidly integrating into global markets. Lhasa Customs continues to refine procedures and to foster connectivity, ensuring Xizang's economic vitality and openness in the years ahead.
