Zhangmu Port in Xizang autonomous region implemented a new policy on Nov 20 that allows foreign travelers to complete arrival cards online.

The initiative marks a milestone in modernizing border management and improving the travel experience for international visitors.

Inside the inspection hall, clear guidance is provided in Chinese, English, and Nepali. Eye-catching banners, multilingual instructions, and large screens continuously display step-by-step videos, making it easy for travelers to understand the process.

Border officers actively assist passengers, speaking fluent English and Nepali. One-on-one support is also offered to Nepali border residents, elderly travelers, and others needing extra help.

French traveler Ramecourt Lilly praised the convenience after completing her arrival card via mobile phone: "It's so easy. I didn't expect to fill out the card online here. No queues, no paperwork — this is very friendly." With free public Wi-Fi available, she scanned a QR code and finished the process in just one minute.

Prior to rollout, the inspection station conducted multiple rounds of system testing and policy promotion, deploying additional staff for consultation and technical support. Authorities plan to continue strengthening publicity and introducing additional facilitation measures to ensure the policy delivers lasting benefits.
