Xizang autonomous region celebrated Pal Lhamo festival on Dec 4, widely known as the "fairy festival", which falls on the 15th day of the 10th month in the Tibetan calendar.
At dawn, women dressed in traditional attire gathered at Lhasa's Jokhang Temple, carrying khata scarves, flowers, and barley wine to offer prayers to the goddess Pal Lhamo for health, peace, and good fortune.
Inside the temple, worshippers poured barley wine into a large ceremonial vessel, then drank the blessed "fortune wine" flowing from its spout. For many, this ritual carries deep family meaning. "I'm receiving this blessing for my mother," said Yangzom from Lhasa. "She's too old to come, but I've joined every year since childhood."
As sunlight lit Jokhang Square, women finished their prayers, exchanged stories, and took photos together. For them, the festival is both a link to ancient tradition and a moment to embrace the happiness they create in daily life.
