Xizang autonomous region officially began its "Two Sessions" of 2026 on Jan 28 as deputies to the regional people's congress and members of the regional committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) arrived to report for duty, carrying the hopes and expectations of people across the plateau.

Registration sites were orderly and efficient, with clear guidance signs, neatly prepared materials and professional staff assisting delegates with credential checks and document collection. Many representatives began reviewing meeting papers immediately after arrival, underscoring their eagerness to fulfill their responsibilities.

One deputy from the regional people's congress said she came armed with the voices of villagers in mind, submitting proposals focused on improving education for children in farming and pastoral areas.

Another member of the regional committee of the CPPCC highlighted the importance of public well-being, particularly the cultivation of talent in traditional Tibetan medicine. His proposal points to preserving cultural heritage while promoting innovation during the region's upcoming development phase.

The attendees said they would approach the meetings with a strong sense of responsibility, bringing grassroots concerns to the agenda and contributing to Xizang's modernization and long-term growth.
